MASER – solo presentation of new work & printmaking lecture
- Saturday 19th
Graphic Studio Gallery
8a Cope Street
Tickets: Free but booking essential
Graphic Studio Gallery presents a much anticipated solo exhibition of new work by internationally renowned street artist, Maser. The exhibition consists of a large series of newly created original fine art prints in multiple media, including woodblock, etching, photopolymer and carborundum that the artist made at Graphic Studio Dublin, through its revered Visiting Artist Programme. Maser will apply his distinctive approach to create a new mural on the shop front of the gallery, as a prelude for the exhibition.
An overarching element of this year’s art strand for VIEW festival is to present work that has the capacity to appeal to children. Colour is a corner-stone of Masers new work, and frequently the most appealing aspect of visual art for children.
The exhibition will also have obvious appeal to those that follow contemporary art, as well as those with an interest in street art, both of which have the capacity to highlight important current affairs. Maser’s now iconic Repeal the 8th mural in Temple Bar being a case in point.
The Gallery will present an illuminating talk on printmaking, on the 19th of November at 12.30pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about how some of the artwork in the exhibition was made – unveiling the mystery behind some of the mediums used to create this exuberant new body of work.
